3. What are the facts about Practitioner Training and Certification?
- Practitioner training is more advanced than Foundation level training and allows for those in an IT organization responsible for specific ITIL process areas to receive focused training and certification. Training includes more hands-on and group exercises. An example of a strategic use of practitioner training is to get the entire team aligned for an upcoming change. In this case, change, configuration and release management training would be particularly important.
- Certification in the Practitioner area is currently under review by both exam agencies. Previous Practitioner certifications were specific to one ITIL module. Both EXIN and ISEB are moving toward Practitioner certifications that combine 2 or 3 ITIL modules into a single certification. The first such combined exam will be for the Change, Configuration and Release cluster.
4. How can I become certified at the Manager's level?
- This is the most advanced ITIL training available to date. It is two weeks of rigorous training consisting of lecture, interaction, exercises and practice exams. Pre-requisites include the Foundation Certification and 5 years of IT management experience.
- Exams are offered 4 times a year at the end of January, April, July and October.
- The exam consists of two, 3-hour essay exams given over two days.
- If you earn at least 50 points on each the Service Support and Service Delivery exam sections, you will earn the manager's certificate in IT Service Management
5. Why is Certification important?
- ITIL certification signifies that the holder of the certificate has an understanding of Best Practice for IT Service Management that can be applied immediately at some level.
- ITIL certification is recognized worldwide.
- Certification also lays the groundwork for a career road map.
6. Why is it important to take classes from an accredited trainer?
